HomeWaterSoftener.co.uk is the part of DS Water that looks after homes. DS Water works on water systems in all sorts of buildings, and we're the team that brings that know-how to people's kitchens, airing cupboards and utility rooms. HomeWaterSoftener.co.uk is a trading name of DS Water.
What we do
- Water softener installation, starting with a free survey and a water test at your home.
- Servicing and repairs for softeners of all the major brands, whoever fitted them.
- Drinking water systems: under-sink carbon filters, reverse osmosis units and UV sterilisers, fitted and serviced.
- Straight advice on hard water, including our postcode hardness checker and our advice articles.
How we work
We'd rather you bought the right thing than the biggest thing. So we test your water, look at where the softener would go and talk through how your household uses water before we suggest anything. You get a clear, fixed quote in writing, and there's no obligation to go ahead.
We're also upfront about the things softeners don't do. Softened water isn't recommended as your main drinking water or for making up baby formula, so we fit a hard-water drinking tap in the kitchen with every softener. And a softener isn't a medical treatment, whatever you might read elsewhere.
The guidance we work to
Fitting a softener is plumbing work on your drinking water supply, so it comes with rules. We work to:
- The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which cover how treatment units are connected and when the water supplier must be told about the work.
- Guidance from Water Regs UK on meeting those regulations.
- Advice from the Drinking Water Inspectorate on softeners and filters in the home, including keeping an unsoftened kitchen tap.
- The manufacturer's installation and servicing instructions for each unit.
