This page explains what happens to the details you give us through the quote form and the service booking form on this website. Short version: we use them to get back to you and sort out your job, and that's it.
Who we are
HomeWaterSoftener.co.uk is a trading name of DS Water, The Lightbox G16, 111 Power Road, London W4 5PY. DS Water is responsible (the "controller") for the personal data described here.

What we collect
When you send an enquiry or ask for a service appointment, we get:
- your name, phone number, email address and postcode
- what you're interested in or the service you need, your preferred date and time, your system's make or model, and anything you type in the message or notes box
- if you used our postcode checker first, the estimated water hardness and softened-sodium figures for your area
The postcode checker itself runs in your browser. The postcode you type into it isn't sent to us unless you go on to send a form.
Why we use it
To reply to you, give you a quote, and arrange and carry out the survey, installation or service you asked about. Our lawful basis is taking steps you've asked for before a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch.
We don't sell your details, and we won't add you to a marketing mailing list.
Where it's stored
When you press send, your form goes through a small secure relay run on Cloudflare and lands in our customer records system (Airtable). Both process the data on our behalf and may store it outside the UK, with the proper safeguards in place. Only the DS Water team who handle enquiries and bookings can see it.
How long we keep it
If you become a customer, we keep your details for as long as we look after your system, and for as long as we need them for our business and tax records. If your enquiry doesn't go anywhere, we delete it once we no longer need it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Just call us on 020 3633 6064 or drop us a line by post. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies, and there's no analytics or advertising tracking. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address in the usual way.
The site itself is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses to keep the service secure. The postcode hardness checker runs entirely in your browser and doesn't store anything.
Spam protection
Our forms include a hidden field that people never see but spam bots tend to fill in. If it's filled in, the message is quietly discarded. We don't use any tracking or fingerprinting to do this.
